The Gunners are second in the table and are four points behind Liverpool. Here is a look at some of the latest transfer news and rumours regarding the club....

Arsenal could turn to Bryan Mbeumo after injuries

Arsenal may be forced to delve into the transfer market following injuries sustained by Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus. As detailed in a report by French news outlet L’Equipe, Brentford attacker Bryan Mbeumo could emerge as an option for the London outfit. Mbeumo, who is 25-years-old, is valued at £42million on Transfermarkt. His contract with the Bees expires in the summer of 2026, with the option of a further 12 months on top of that, meaning his current club are under no pressure to sell him just yet and can wait for the right offer to come in for his signature.

The Cameroon international joined Brentford back in 2019 from Troyes and hasn’t looked back since. He helped them gain promotion from the Championship in his second year under Thomas Frank. Mbeumo has scored 63 goals in 225 games in all competitions for the Bees, 13 of which have come in this campaign. If the Gunners were to land him, he would give them something different going forward.

He penned his last extension back in 2021. Frank said at the time: “I am very pleased that Bryan has decided to extend his contract with us. He has been an important player for us since he arrived in 2019. He had a fantastic first season in the Championship and just as good a follow-up year last season, as he developed other parts of his game. His Premier League performances have been even more impressive.

“As everyone knows, Bryan has hit the woodwork seven times this season. Margins have gone against him, but he has given us a lot. He has been a constant threat to our opponents. I am also very pleased that we have a chance to maximise Bryan’s potential. We are only seeing the start of what he will be able to produce. He has a brilliant future in front of him.”

Former player Paul Merson highlights striker need

Former Arsenal player Paul Merson has urged the Gunners to sign a new forward. They are looking light at the top end of the pitch.

The pundit has said, as per Sky Sports: “This reminds me of a time during the Arsene Wenger era. Every Arsenal player, pundit and fan knew they needed a centre-half and they didn't go out and get one. I hope Mikel Arteta isn't thinking like that. Everyone knows they need a forward. They need to freshen it up, they don't need to play straight away, but they need that extra body.

“You have seen it with Manchester City and Julian Alvarez, what a massive miss he has been. Arsenal need that extra kick because they are in this title race, there is no doubt about it.”
