Arsenal player ratings: 'Unstoppable' 10/10 and 'crunching' 9 as Spurs beaten

Arsenal are back up to second in the Premier League and four points off league leaders Liverpool with a win over Tottenham Hotspur.

Arsenal bounced back from FA Cup defeat to Manchester United with a North London derby victory over Tottenham Hotspur at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night.

Just one goal separated the two sides as the Gunners recorded a 2-1 win thanks to an own goal from Dominic Solanke and a Leandro Trossard finish following an opener from Son Heung-min. Mikel Arteta’s side looked largely comfortable against an error-prone Spurs, making it two wins over their rivals this season.

Here’s how the Arsenal players rated in the side’s 12th win of the season with the gap closing on title rivers Liverpool.

Arsenal player ratings

GK - David Raya, 8

Had next to no chance of stopping the goal thanks to the deflection. Came out of his goal well to return possession to the Arsenal midfield.

LB - Myles Lewis-Skelly, 9

Every week, the 18-year-old looks at home in the Arsenal first team. His crunching tackle on Sarr after 38 minutes shows that he is the type of player capable of moments to invigorate a team.

CB - Gabriel, 10

A matchwinner tonight. The way he scores those headers from corners is unstoppable thanks to his pace and strength. Was rightly praised for a decisive defensive intervention around 21 minutes too as he poked a ball out of the path of Dominic Solanke brilliantly following a dangerous cross.

CB - William Saliba, 9

So impressive with the ball at his feet, that’s a real asset of his. Was barking instructions to his teammates in the box before the corner that Gabriel headed home. A big character.

RB - Jurrien Timber, 8

Another confident showing at right-back, Timber is a trustworthy option at the back.

CM - Declan Rice, 9

Another big performance tonight. Quality on the ball and his corner that landed on Gabriel’s head was cooked to perfection.

CM - Thomas Partey, 7

The casual way he tracked back ahead of the move which prompted the corner Son scored from was nothing short of criminal. His play elsewhere was better and he won back possession with a good tackle ahead of the Trossard goal.

CM - Martin Odegaard, 7

Started brightly but could have been more decisive at times with the Gunners taking too long to put the ball in the box. A commendable shift.

LW - Leandro Trossard, 8

Sometimes looks unconvincing when pulling the trigger but caught his shot well for the goal, although Antonin Kinsky should have done better in the Spurs goal. Some nice tricks and flicks in the second half too.

ST - Kai Havertz, 6

Found some more space and saw more of the ball as the game went on but does lack a talismanic presence when Arsenal are camped on the edge of the opposition box.

RW - Raheem Sterling, 7

Did appear to have the bit between his teeth tonight. The danger man in the opening 10 minutes but did lose some influence before his second half substitution.

SUB - Gabriel Martinelli, 7

Found a couple moments to get involved off the bench but overworked the ball at times.

SUB - Kieran Tierney, 7

Helped see the game out in what could be his final appearance in an Arsenal shirt amid links to Celtic.

SUBS - Oleksandr Zinchenko, Mikel Merino, N/A
