Arsenal are once again linked with a move for Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres, only this time the Portuguese club have said they could be willing to let their prize asset for for £60m. According to TBR Football, both Arsenal and Chelsa are among the clubs to ‘retain an interest’ and will be jubilant to hear that the cost for the star has dropped by over £20m.
Mikel Arteta had been hopeful of a busy summer of transfers as he eyes yet another title-charge in 2024/25. However, no-one new has yet walked through the Emirates door.

The Gunners had been keen to strengthen in several departments with an out-and-out striker one such area. The Swedish 26-year-old Gyokeres has long been linked with a move to N7 but with the Portugal club initially putting a £86m price tag on him, a move to buy from the Gunners looked unlikely.
Now, however, TBR Football has revealed that Sporting would consider a bid closer to £60m for the Swedish star putting him back in contention for a move to Arsenal and their London rivals Chelsea who have also been long-term admirers of the star described as ‘unbelievable’. Liverpool and Tottenham are also understood to have been interested in a move but with such a high release clause figure, their interest appeared to wane.
The star made 50 appearances across all competitions for Sporting last campaign, scoring 43 goals and contributing 15 further assists to help them win the league. Speaking at the time of the club’s domestic triumphs, Gyokeres opened up on the possibility of a transfer to which he was exceptionally careful not to rule anything out.
Speaking to the press, the former Coventry star said: “It’s football, I can’t promise anything. I have a contract and I won’t be sad if I stay, I’m very happy, but we’ll see what happens. We can’t predicts much, but let’s see what next year will be like.”
