Saudi Arabia is on a mission to catapult its top division of football into the spotlight this summer by bringing in household names from all over the globe for eye-watering amounts of money. The Premier League has undoubtedly been the prime target for new recruits, as the likes of Jordan Henderson, Riyad Mahrez, and Allan Saint-Maximin are just a few players to have made lucrative transfers.

There is still a little over a week left before the transfer window slams shut as well, which is plenty of time for more twists and turns to present themselves. Two of the latest names linked to a Saudi move from the Premier Legaue are based at London clubs.

The first new rumour comes from Arsenal, as reports have linked the out of favour Nicolas Pépé to an unnamed Saudi club. The winger has been heavily linked to an exit this summer after seriously struggling to establish himself until Mikel Arteta lately. Arsenal are keen to cash in now, as he has already entered the last 12 months of his contract and the club have no plans of keeping him on the books any further.

Besiktas were interested in snapping up Pépé but the player rejected their pursuit of his signature. The report linking him to Saudi Arabia claims this is the ‘hottest lead’ regarding the winger’s Emirates exit and Arsenal are reportedly negotiating a transfer fee for the man they splashed what was a record £72 million on back in 2019.

The second London club being targeted is Chelsea, as Romelu Lukaku also finds himself searching for a new club. According to talkSPORT, Al-Hilal remain keen on the Belgian striker after their failed bid for him earlier in the summer. The Blues are ‘urging’ for Lukaku to accept a deal from the Pro League if no European move materialises this window.

Al-Hilal have only recently signed Aleksandar Mitrović, but a last minute fluid switch of club could well be a possibility if the side prefer Lukaku over the the former Fulham star. Chelsea are keen to cash in on the out of favour forward, as he is seemingly not involved in any of Mauricio Pochettino’s plans moving forward.
