There were downsides, of course, and none bigger than missing out on the Champions League, but progress is the name of the game following years of disappointment for the Gunners.

Further progress is likely to require new signings, and the Gunners will spend money to strengthen this summer, with Mikel Arteta getting assurances before he signed a new contract.

And with new arrivals in mind, we have rounded up all the latest transfer news and rumours:

Tielemans update

Arsenal are said to be ready to make their move to complete a deal for Youri Tielemans.

The Leicester City star could leave this summer, with only one year remaining on his current contract, and with no new deal in sight.

The Foxes would certainly like to keep him, but Tielemans may be ready for a new challenge.

According to HLN, via Sport Witness, Arsenal see Tielemans as a ‘neccesary’ deal, and they are ready to make their move.

Leicester are said to want around £35million for their Belgian midfielder.

Arsenal are said to have made an opening offer for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen.

According to Il Mattino, the Gunners have submitted an offer worth £55m for the striker, and that’s despite Napoli valuing him at £85m.

The report claims the bid has been swiftly rejected, with Napoli deciding to wait for a better offer.

Vlahovic opens up

Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic has opened up on his reported decision to reject a move to Arsenal in favour of Juventus.

“Maybe my agent knows [about Arsenal’s offer] but I never talked to anyone about it,” the striker said in an interview with The Telegraph.

“I just had one club in my mind because Juventus is Juventus. There is nothing else to say. And now I feel honoured to be given this jersey. It’s incredible every time I put it on. I definitely identify with their DNA. The Juventus personality coincides with my personality.

“When you come here you never give up, you fight all the time, you make the sacrifices. This was definitely what I was looking for.”
