Arsenal outcast Aaron Ramsdale may well have secured a move ahead of the 2024/25 campaign with Wolverhampton Wanderers keen to sell their shot-stopper Jose Sa after he has continued to gain interest from the Saudi Pro League.

Since Mikel Arteta brought in Brentford goalkeeper David Raya on loan in the summer, the English keeper has been reduced to a number two role and is seeking a club that will give him more game time from August onwards. The 25-year-old has made just six Premier League appearances this campaign, 11 across all competitions, and Raya’s loan deal is to be made permanent at the end of the season with the Spaniard enjoying a £27 million option to buy clause in his contract.

Wolves will be looking at replacements for the Portuguese star Sa if he does indeed go to the Middle East and The Sun has reported that the Gunners number two gloves man is on the list. Also on the list is reported to be Liverpool’s Caoimhin Kelleher and Sunderland’s Anthony Patterson while an elbow injury to Crystal Palace’s Sam Johnstone has made him an unlikely target.

If Wolves are to prize away with Ramsdale from the Emirates or the Irish football star Kelleher from Anfield then they will need to secure a large sum from Sa’s sale to the Saudi Pro League. Recent reports, as noted by the Chronicle Live, have suggested Arteta will demand a £60 million fee for the Ramsdale and the Molineux Stadium side could well face a battle from Newcastle United following suggestions in the January transfer window that the Magpies were seeking the Englishman’s services.

The St James Park side will, however, have to address any Financial Fair Play concerns before making any big money moves in the upcoming transfer window.

Beginning his career with Sheffield United, Ramsdale joined the Gunners in 2021 and has made nearly 80 Premier League appearances for them. The 25-year-old ex-Bournemouth player won the 2023 Goalkeeper of the Year award at the 2023 London Football Awards and was named in the PFA Team of the Year at the end of the 2022/23 season. He has four England appearances, making his senior debut in England’s 10-0 victory over San Marino in the 2022 World Cup Qualifiers.
