Cifuentes update on Willock contract

QPR head coach Marti Cifuentes has hinted that winger Chris Willock has not yet extended his contract at the club ahead of its expiry come the end of the season, despite his fondness for the club.

The 26-year-old has made 37 Championship appearances this term, but has blown hot and cold at times. The former Arsenal youngster was impressive as the R's picked up a vital three points against Preston North End on Saturday to boost survival hopes - the QPR head coach praised his 'fantastic game'.

Speaking after the game, Cifuentes said: “He knows how much we rate him, and I think he knows how much we like him. But what is going to happen in the future I don’t know. What is sure is that he showed today that he loves this club and that he wanted to play here and help us.”

Willock was linked with a move to Rangers last year, although that came largely due to former QPR boss Michael Beale being in charge of the Glasgow giants at the time.

QPR defeat could have huge Preston North End consequences

An underwhelming performance at Loftus Road on Saturday could have huge consequences for some Preston North End stars with manager Ryan Lowe hinting that the whole squad was now playing for the chance to be in the side next season.

The Lancashire Post reports that Lowe was due to sit down with the club this week to plan for the upcoming transfer window but gave a scathing review of his side after the defeat in London.

Lowe said: “With all due respect, I might put it off. We expected to win here and that’s not being disrespectful to Queens Park Rangers. It then looks better and brighter, on 66 points and can plan a little bit. I don’t like planning ahead when we’ve got points and games to win. We’ve got football to play and we’ve got to play the right way. So, I don’t know whether I will change the meetings - because everyone’s future is up for grabs basically."

Leeds United are 'likely' to accept a bid of around £30 million for Wilfried Gnonto this summer, should they fail to achieve promotion to the Premier League.

That's according to Football Insider, with the outlet reporting that the 20-year-old could even be 'available' for £20 million. Gnonto had attracted Premier League interest last summer, with Everton believed to have made several bids worth up to the £30 million price tag.

The player had even handed in a transfer request but Leeds United were not to be budged. Gnonto has committed to the Whites' campaign this term and has seven goals since February.
