Left-back latest

Newcastle United are ‘gearing’ up to make an approach for Arsenal left-back Kieran Tierney with Manchester City ‘still keen’ on signing him as well, as per a report by Football Insider. The former Celtic man is facing an uncertain long-term future at the Emirates Stadium and is being heavily linked with an exit.

The Gunners landed him back in 2019 after he caught the eye playing in the Scottish Premiership for Celtic and he has since made 123 appearances in all competitions for the London club, finding the net five times from defence. However, he is no longer a guaranteed starter for Arteta’s side and is being eyed by other league rivals.

Academy graduate secures new move

Arsenal academy graduate Xavier Amaechi has been snapped up by Bundesliga 2 side FC Magdeburg. The 22-year-old left England back in 2019 for Hamburg but has made only five first-team appearances during his time at the Volksparkstadion.

He has been loaned out to Bolton Wanderers and Karlsruher over recent times to get some game time under his belt. Magdeburg’s Sporting Director Otmar Schork has said: “Xavier is a young and developing player who has a lot of potential. Due to injuries, his path has not been that smooth so far. We are convinced that he fits our game philosophy and will liven up our offensive.”
