Arsenal have been heavily linked with a January move for Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic in recent weeks.

They are now on the hunt for a replacement for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Gazetta dello Sport have reported that they have stepped up their pursuit of Vlahovic - submitting an offer of €55 million plus Lucas Torreira.

The forward has scored 16 goals in 19 league matches for Fiorentina this season, alongside Torreira who is currently on loan in Italy.

The Serie A club are keen on making the midfielder’s stay permanent and it is believed that Arsenal’s offer - valued at €70 million - could be enough to tempt them to part ways with Vlahovic.

Tottenham Hotspur have also been linked with the Serbian this month.

Magpies to raid Arsenal

Newcastle United will be hoping to make a number of quality signings this month as they look to avoid relegation.

The Telegraph have reported that Eddie Howe is targeting a number of Arsenal players to help them with their survival.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been linked with a move to Tyneside after he was stripped of his captaincy in December.

However, the Magpies have also expressed interest in Eddie Nketiah, Rob Holding and Mohamed Elneny.

If Nketiah doesn’t run down his contract until the summer, the striker could depart the Emirates Stadium on the cheap during the January transfer window.

Meanwhile, Newcastle’s pursuit of Holding and Elneny may be a little ambitious given the Gunners’ need for useful squad players like themselves.

The duo have made a combined total of 12 league appearances this season.
