Arsenal are ‘likely’ to launch a bid for Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres this summer as they look to add more firepower to their attacking department ahead of the next campaign. According to Jornal de Notícias (via Sport Witness), the attacker is on the radar of Mikel Arteta ahead of the next transfer window after his impressive goal return in Portugal.

The Sweden international, who has made 20 caps for his country, has scored 36 goals in 43 games in all competitions since moving to his current club last year from Coventry City in the Championship. He was on the books at Brighton and Hove Albion from 2018 to 2021 but played only eight times for the Seagulls.

Left-back latest on future

Arsenal left-back Kieran Tierney, who is on loan at Real Sociedad, has admitted he doesn’t know what the future will hold for him. He is due to return to the Emirates Stadium at the end of this term when his temporary deal in La Liga expires.

The defender has enjoyed plenty of game time in Spain and has developed well. He has said on talkSPORT: "It probably worked out best for both parties [Arsenal and Real Sociedad] that I got out, get a new experience - get some game time.

"When you don't play, you do lose a bit of your confidence, so to go over here and get that back has been great."

He added: "In football you never know [what can happen]. It's a bit strange that you can come back the way [William] Saliba did. It is strange to be on loan for four years and then return to play.

"Football is crazy, so we'll see. I'm not talking to Arteta, he's busy there."
