It’s another massive weekend in the Premier League title race with Arsenal and Manchester City both facing difficult away trips on Sunday.

Mikel Arteta’s side travel to Anfield to take on Liverpool with the Reds still harbouring ambitions of a top four finish, but they would need to pull together an impressive run of results to do so. As for the reigning champion, they head to St Mary’s to take on bottom club Southampton who are fighting for their life in the relegation zone.

Meanwhile, there are plenty of transfer news stories making headlines behind the scenes as the rumour mill keeps spinning and one report claims that the Gunner are very much ‘in the race’ for a £30 million valued midfielder who could very well be available for a considerably lower fee while a former Emirates Stadium favourite looks to be on the verge of a new, long term deal at his current club. Here are the latest Arsenal transfer news stories on Saturday, April 8:

Arsenal could get ‘discount’ on £30 million midfielder

Arsenal are firmly in the race to sign Eintracht Frankfurt star Djibril Sow and have shortlisted him as a target to bolster their midfield ranks, according to the Express. The playmaker is said to have rejected multiple offers of a new contract with the Europa League holders.

That means that he could be available on a cut price £13 million, considerably less than the £30 million the Bundesliga club had previously valued him at. Midfield is expected to be the key area in which the Gunners look to strengthen during the summer window and Sow is just one of many options they could pursue while West Ham’s Declan Rice is still strongly touted as their number one target by multiple publications.

Former Arsenal favourite ‘in talks’ over new long term deal

Reports from France claim that former Arsenal favourite Aaron Ramsey is in talks over a new, long term deal with Ligue 1 side Nice. As reported by L’Equipe, the Welshman recently activated a one yeat extension in his current deal after featuring in the minimum number of games required to do so but is now discussing a further extension.

Ramsey, 32, left Arsenal in 209 and had a turbulent spell with Juventus in the Italian Serie A which also included a brief and forgettable loan spell with Rangers in the Scottish Premiership. However, his career appears to have been revitalised in France which will be pleasing to Gunners supporters who remember him fondly from 11 seasons with the first team.
