Arsenal are dealing with a fresh injury concern due to an issue picked up by a player on international duty.

Arsenal have been handed another injury concern during the international break with a key player limping off injured for his nation. The Gunners lost another player head into the break, with Ben White requiring surgery to correct an ongoing knee issue.

The England international was not set to link up with his nation in any case, but the surgery means he will now sit out until early in the new year. It’s another big blow for Mikel Arteta, who has already had to go without a number of players through injury this season.

Another player could now be set for a spell on the sidelines, with Leandro Trossard suffering some sort of injury during Belgium’s surprise 1-0 defeat to Israel on Sunday night. The Red Devils narrowly avoided Nations League relegation, finishing on the same number of points as bottom team Israel.

Belgium boss Dominic Tedesco may come under pressure as a result of the poor campaign, and interestingly, Trossard’s father, Peter, has already criticised the coach. He told De Morgen previously: “I don’t think Tedesco is a good trainer for Belgium. Although he doesn’t have the stubbornness of Roberto Martínez. Leandro gets criticized, but he was moved from one position to another. That way you don’t get a line in your game. Don’t underestimate those Romanians, Ukraine was not involved in their first match. But hopefully I’m wrong, the Belgians win and the enthusiasm flares up.”

In terms of the injury, Trossard is now headed back to Arsenal with Belgium’s Nations League campaign all wrapped up. The midfielder will be assessed ahead of Saturday’s home clash with Nottingham Forest.

The Belgian has been used plenty this season by Arteta, with Martin Odegaard having struggled with injury since the last international break. Trossard is not in great form, but he does seem to prefer playing out wide to that attacking midfield role where he has struggled to make an impact this season.
