Striker latest

Ivan Toney’s situation at Brentford has taken another twist with TEAMtalk reporting that Arsenal could be ‘priced out’ of a move for him in the January transfer window. The striker, who is an England international, is facing an uncertain future at the Gtech Community Stadium this winter despite being out of action at the moment and he has been heavily linked with a switch to the Emirates Stadium along with rivals Chelsea as Mikel Arteta plots potential attacking targets.

Toney, 27, made the move to his current club back in 2020 from Peterborough United and helped them gain promotion from the Championship in his first year. He has made 124 appearances for the Bees in all competitions and has chipped in with an impressive 68 goals to date.

Player wanted

Arsenal’s Emile Smith Rowe is attracting interest from a host of teams including Newcastle United and Aston Villa. The 23-year-old isn’t guarenteed regular football with the Gunners anymore.

Journalist Graeme Bailey has had this to say on the Talking Transfers Podcast: “Does Arteta trust him? I don’t think he does you know. I think there have been chances for Smith Rowe to play, but he’s some way down the pecking order.

“We know Aston Villa love him, they almost signed him before, they still want him, our information is that Newcastle would take him, Brighton would take him, he can’t go to Tottenham, they wouldn’t sell him there. He will give it until January and see what’s happening there.”
