Arsenal set to create clear path for superstar Liverpool transfer as 'complicated' claim made

Arsenal could miss out on a key transfer target and to a Premier League title rival.

Arsenal may have offered one of their Premier League title rivals a clear road to a superstar signing. The Gunners have already been very busy in this summer window, signing four players so far, with Noni Madueke the most recent to make the switch to the Emirates Stadium.

Madueke joined on a £52million deal from Chelsea, and he arrives to add competition to the wide areas. Arsenal have also spent a similar figure to sign Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad this summer, and they are likely to spend even more to land Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP, with a deal worth more than £60million likely to be wrapped up.

After the signing of Madueke, Gyokeres is the clear priority, with Cristhian Mosquera looking like being done at this stage. But with the spending bill so high, it’s reported that Arsenal have spent themselves out of the race to sign a superstar winger in Real Madrid star Rodrygo. The Gunners have been linked with a move for the Brazilian this summer, with Xabi Alonso not regarding Rodrygo as a key part of his plans going into next season.

Liverpool are also said to be interested in the winger, and they may now have a clear run at the winger due to Arsenal coming close to their spending limit as they look to wrap up the Gyokeres limit. At least that’s according to a report from CadenaSER. The report reads: “The signings of Madueke and Gyökeres have complicated things considerably. Arsenal's options are closed, and therefore, either Liverpool will go for him because Newcastle won't sell Isak, or the Brazilian will have to leave Real Madrid in August for a lesser team.”

Rodrygo is going to cost at least £70million this summer, according to reports, and Arsenal’s budget will already be stretched, while they may already need to sell an expendable asset like Leandro Trossard to balance their spending by the time the summer transfer window closes.

Rodrygo heading to Liverpool would be a huge blow for Arsenal, who will likely be competing with the Reds for the Premier League title in the coming season. Liverpool have already made a statement signing in Florian Wirtz, while they now look to be stepping up their efforts to land striker Hugo Ekitike. The signing of Rodrygo would add a particularly dangerous look to Arne Slot’s squad, though Luis Diaz could depart, and the Reds have also lost Diogo Jota under tragic circumstances.

In terms of Rodrygo, Xabi Alonso hasn’t said much of late, but he did say when asked why the Brazilian was left on the bench for a FIFA Club World Cup fixture: “I see Rodrygo in good shape. He was on the bench for a technical decision,” the Real Madrid head coach said. He’s still important, and we’ll need him at the Club World Cup. He’s a special player and will play a key role.”
