England manager Gareth Southgate ruffled feathers on Tuesday when announcing his initial squad for this summer's Euro 2024 competition. Chelsea, Manchester United and Newcastle United stars are all left out of a new-look side heading into preparations for the tournament.
Some of those snubs are less surprising than others given injuries and form this season but, 12 months ago, many of the Premier League first-team stars would have been blocking out the weeks in their calendar to prepare for the international competition.
LondonWorld looks at just 11 of the players absent from the England squad to make up a pretty phenomenal starting XI that, according to Transfermarkt, has an eye-watering worth of £349 million.

9. RM - Raheem Sterling, £38m
A stalwart of the Gareth Southgate era, missing out on Euro 2024 will be a huge blow for Raheem Sterling. A final flurry of two goals in his last three Premier League outings wasn't enough to sway the England boss. | Getty Images

10. ST - Dominic Solanke, £30m
One of those perhaps most unlucky to miss out on Euro 2024, Solanke plundered 19 goals for Bournemouth this term. He's been consistent all term and can rightfully feel aggrieved at being overlooked. | Getty Images

11. ST - Callum Wilson, £11m
The Newcastle United striker still managed nine goals in a season plagued by injury. Wilson returned from a long chest lay-off in April and scored two in back-to-back fixtures before missing another two outings with illness. | Getty Images
