Arsenal CEO Vinai Venkatesham has promised the club will continue to look at strengthening the current squad.

It has been a superb season for the Gunners so far, with Mikel Arteta’s men five points clear at the top of the Premier League. But we are still less than halfway through the Premier League season, and many are calling for Arsenal to further strengthen to ensure they are best positioned to go all the way in their title bid.

The pressure has mounted following Gabriel Jesus’ injury, with the Brazilian set to miss at least a couple of months through a knee problem. Jesus has been key for Arsenal so far this term, scoring five and assisting six, and Arteta was already relying heavily upon key attackers like Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli.

Eddie Nketiah has helped soften the Jesus injury blow, showing good form, and the possible signing of Mykaylo Mudryk would certainly help, but Arsenal may not be done there, with CEO Venkatesham making it clear the Gunners are always looking.

“We have a very clear plan, headed up by Edu, of what we want to do to strengthen the squad,” he told Sky Sports News. “In each transfer window, of course, we are going to look at what opportunities are out there. If something makes sense from a technical and financial perspective, the board will discuss it.

“We are happy with the squad we’ve got, but of course we will look in every transfer window to continue to strengthen the team.”

Arsenal are still locked in talks with Shakhtar Donetsk over the possible signing of Mudryk, and they are hoping to complete a deal in the coming weeks, but Venkatesham wouldn’t issue any update.

When asked, he simply replied: “You know the answer I’m going to give you. I’m not going to talk about specific players.”
