Arsenal are only two weeks away from returning to Premier League action following the World Cup. While fans will be raring to get back to the Emirates Stadium, they will be wishing Gabriel Jesus was joining them.
The striker made one start and two substitute appearances for Brazil before he suffered a knee injury in their final group stage clash with Cameroon. Jesus was forced to undergo surgery and now faces a number of months on the sidelines - leaving Arsenal rather short up top.
The Gunners have since been linked with a number of attackers as they look to bolster their squad depth, while they also remain interested in stars all over the pitch ahead of the January transfer window. Mikel Arteta will be eager for his squad to be as strong as possible as they look to avoid losing their lead at the top of the Premier League table in the second half of the campaign.
Ahead of the window opening in three weeks’ time, we take a look at some of the best players from this winter’s World Cup that Arsenal could target.

5. Rafael Leao
Chelsea were reportedly interested in signing the Portuguese star in the summer and he remains likely to leave AC Milan in the near future. Leao scored twice at the World Cup and has six goals in Serie A. | Getty Images

6. Jurrien Timber
Man United looked very likely to sign the defender in the summer but still remains at Ajax, however they might not be able to hold onto him for much longer. However, Timber’s new contract may make it a lot harder - and more expensive - to lure him away from the Dutch club. | Getty Images

7. Goncalo Ramos
Ramos gained a huge amount of fans when he netted a hat-trick against Switzerland after he controversially took the place of Cristiano Ronaldo in the starting line-up. The striker has scored 14 goals in all competitions for Benfica this season. | Getty Images

8. Sofyan Amrabat
Amrabat’s heroics with Morocco that has seen them reach the World Cup semi-finals has resulted in him being heavily linked with Liverpool. Tottenham were previously looking to sign the midfielder in the summer. | Getty Images
