Arsenal are only two weeks away from returning to Premier League action following the World Cup. While fans will be raring to get back to the Emirates Stadium, they will be wishing Gabriel Jesus was joining them.
The striker made one start and two substitute appearances for Brazil before he suffered a knee injury in their final group stage clash with Cameroon. Jesus was forced to undergo surgery and now faces a number of months on the sidelines - leaving Arsenal rather short up top.
The Gunners have since been linked with a number of attackers as they look to bolster their squad depth, while they also remain interested in stars all over the pitch ahead of the January transfer window. Mikel Arteta will be eager for his squad to be as strong as possible as they look to avoid losing their lead at the top of the Premier League table in the second half of the campaign.
Ahead of the window opening in three weeks’ time, we take a look at some of the best players from this winter’s World Cup that Arsenal could target.

17. Daichi Kamada
Kamada started all four of Japan’s World Cup matches as they reached the Round of 16. The 26-year-old has 12 goals in all competitions for Frankfurt this season and has reportedly attracted the interest of Tottenham and Borussia Dortmund. | Getty Images

18. Mehdi Taremi
Taremi scored two goals in Iran’s three group stage matches at the World Cup. He has been linked with a move to Arsenal following Gabriel Jesus’ injury, though his age (30) may put off clubs. | Getty Images

19. Josko Gvardiol
The 20-year-old had already been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea but will have a much longer list of suitors after his stellar performances at the World Cup. The defender is likely to cost over £80m, with the likes of Man United, Tottenham and Man City all keen. | AFP via Getty Images
