Record-breaking Arsenal starboy Ethan Nwaneri has signed his first professional contract with the Gunners after spending just under nine years in their youth academy.

He has already made his professional debut for the club - he came on as a substitute during a 3-0 win over Brentford in 2022. In doing so, he also became the youngest Premier League player of all time at the age of 15 years and 181 days.

He has also been a prolific goal scorer for England at U17s level. As things stand, he has made 24 appearances for the Three Lions' U17s team, scoring 12 goals in total. An adaptable attacking player, he can play as a central midfielder, a number ten, a right winger and as an out-and-out striker.

It is unclear when Nwaneri will be given an extended run of games in the Gunners' senior squad - however, given his seemingly-limitless potential, it is likely to be merely a matter of time. he has made nine appearances in the Premier League 2 this season, scoring seven goals and notching up a pair of assists.

What has been said regarding Ethan Nwaneri's new contract at Arsenal?

On Arsenal's official club website, academy manager Per Mertesacker said: "We are extremely proud of Ethan and his journey, from pre-academy to Hale End, then a seamless transition to Sobha Realty Training Centre and then making his first team debut. Ethan’s journey now continues, and we will all be there alongside him to support his development.

"Ethan has a strong ability to master the ball, dominate possession and is really effective in the final third, which fits into our playing style at Arsenal Football Club. He is someone that will thrive on and off the pitch as a Strong Young Gunner and we look forward to working with him during his ongoing development in the years to come."
