If you've seen the trailer for the upcoming Netflix movie The Kitchen and wondered if that really was football pundit Ian Wright, it was indeed.

Yes. The football pundit and former Crystal Palace player makes a cameo in the upcoming movie as a pirate radio DJ named Lord Kitchener.

Set 20 years into the future in London, the movie explores how strained the wealth gap has become between the rich and the poor. As the film's title suggests, the movie has a particular focus on The Kitchen estate, with Lord Kitchener known to locals for his funky tunes.

Eagle-eyed fans may have seen a glimpse of Wright in character as Lord Kitchener in the film's new trailer as he appears at around 1 minute 25 seconds in.

Wright revealed in a post on Instagram that he had been approached about the role in early 2022. While sharing photo's from the film's premiere at the 2023 BFI London Film Festival in October he explained: "18 months ago, Daniel [Kaluuya] and Kibwe [Tavares] called and asked me to film myself and send some lines for the role of Lord Kitchener!"

He went on to gush: "Proud to not only be a small part of their work but to see them reach these levels."

Audiences will be able to see Ian Wright as Lord Kitchener in The Kitchen when the movie lands on Netflix on January 19.
