Who is The Kitchen 2023 star Kano? Get to know the London-born actor

The Kitchen's cast showcases the talents of several London actors, including Kano, who plays one of the movie's central characters, Izi. Following the film's premiere in the capital over the weekend, let's get to know the Izi actor Kano a bit better.

The sci-fi drama had its first screening in the city on Sunday (October 15) as part of the London Film Festival. 

Set 20 years into the future in London, the movie explores how strained the wealth gap has become between the rich and the poor.

Kano's character, Izi, is a solitary grafter who resides in The Kitchen, which is the only social housing spot in London left after all forms were ordered to be eradicated. Audiences follow Izi adapt after he takes a 12-year-old boy named Benji under his wing, who is looking for his family.

Who is The Kitchen star Kano? From Football to Music and TV

Having become a familiar face on screen for his role as Sully in Top Boy, Kano, real name Kane Brett Robinson, is set to take on the character of Izi in the new Netflix dystopian London film The Kitchen.

Mirroring his TV roles, Kano is also a Londoner off-screen and hails from the east of the city. The 38-year-old was born and raised in East Ham.

Away from the screen, the actor is also a known name in the grime music scene. Having previously been awarded Album of the Year at the MOBO awards for his fifth studio album, Kano has helped pave the way for grime in mainstream music along with the likes of Wiley and Dizzee Rascal.

Before pursuing a career in music, Kano was a rising footballer. He even had trials for the west London club Chelsea FC.
