Former Barcelona manager jumps ahead of Man City legend in race for Tottenham coaching job

Tottenham could turn to former Barcelona and Spain boss Luis Enrique to fill the void created by the departure of Antonio Conte according to the Telegraph. Tottenham have appointed Cristian Stellini, Antonio Conte’s assistant, to see out what is left of the season and have been speaking to coaches behind the scenes.

Former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is highly regarded by the fans to make a return after leading them to the Champions League final in 2019, he’s also credited with introducing an attractive brand of football that united the fanbase and built a team everyone was proud of.

But LondonWorld sources say the board is not too keen on looking back and is rather looking at Vincent Kompany who has just led Burnley back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

He’s also highly thought of at the Etihad as one who could potentially take over from Pep Guardiola when he eventually leaves the club in the future.

Tottenham are widely reported to be interested in Kompany even though according to the Telegraph, he’s a second choice to Luis Enrique who won the Champions League and is hugely respected across Europe.

The 52-year-old Enrique was interviewed by Chelsea last week and LondonWorld sources say the Blues are looking to speak to German Julian Nagelsmann before deciding who is the best to lead the new project at Stamford Bridge.

The Lilywhites can still finish in a Champions League spot while Chelsea will need a miracle having endured a chaotic season that has seen them fall to 11th in the league table.

Enrique has been out of a job since leaving his role with Spain after World Cup and is said to be desperate to try working in the Premier League.
