The Met Office’s yellow warning continues for London and much of central and western England and Wales.

Heat and high humidity are continuing to be forecast for much of this week, with “torrential downpours” expected in the capital this afternoon.

A yellow weather warning is scheduled for London as the Met Office forecasts a thunderstorm later today (June 12), with temperatures to remain high, peaking at around 29 degrees.

The warning follows a weekend in which the UK recorded its hottest temperatures of the year so far, hitting up to 32.2 degrees in Chertsey, Surrey.

In London, the Met Office’s forecast is showing expected rain at around 2pm. This is expected to clear up however, ending the day with sunshine and temperatures of up to 26/27 degrees.

The rest of the week is looking similarly warm, with temperatures expected to reach 28 on Tuesday, 27 on Wednesday, and 26 on Thursday and Friday.

What is a yellow weather warning?

According to the Met Office’s website, a weather warning indicates thunderstorms and torrential downpours, which could result in difficulty driving and the potential flooding of homes and businesses.

The warning will cover much of central and western England and Wales, including London, between 12pm and 9pm today.
