Victim of fatal Christmas Day crash in Edgware named

A woman who died in a car crash on Christmas Day has been named by police.
Maria Carolina Do Nascimento, 22, was declared dead at the scene on the Brent Cross flyover in north-west London in the early hours of Sunday.

Hide AdFour men, aged 21, 29, 29 and 32, were arrested and bailed on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop at a collision scene.
The collision happened at approximately 3.45 am shortly after officers on patrol in a marked vehicle indicated for a car to stop in the vicinity of Hendon Way.


The vehicle drove off from the police. There was no pursuit.
A short time later police were informed the same car had been involved in a collision with another car.

Hide AdThe occupants of the car that did not stop for police fled the scene on foot.
London Ambulance Service attended but despite the best efforts of paramedics, Maria sadly died at the scene. Her next of kin have been informed.
A man, the driver of the second car, suffered a head injury – his condition is not serious.
