Here is the full list of planned TfL service changes this weekend, August 2 to 4.

Londoners travelling into the capital this weekend could be faced with disruption due to closures on Tube and rail services.

Transport for London (TfL) has asked Londoners to check before they travel.

London Underground

Bakerloo line

Saturday 3 until Thursday August 8

No service between Queen's Park and Harrow & Wealdstone

Use local and temporary bus services to connect with alternative Tube routes via the Metropolitan and Jubilee lines. 

Customers for central London can also use London Northwestern Railway services from Watford Junction, Bushey, Wembley Central or Harrow & Wealdstone. These services will continue to run during the works.

Temporary bus routes 718, 719 and 720 will be available during the closure period:

  • Route 718 will run between Queen's Park and Harrow & Wealdstone
  • Route 719 will run between Queen's Park and Wembley Park (weekdays only, 7.30am to 8.30pm)

This is due to planned engineering works on Network Rail-owned infrastructure.

Piccadilly line

Friday night 2 into Saturday August 3

No service between Hyde Park Corner and King's Cross St. Pancras until 3.30am during Friday Night Tube

Use alternative Night Tube services or local bus routes.

Saturday 3 and Sunday August 4

No service between King's Cross St. Pancras and Cockfosters including Friday and Saturday Night Tube

Use alternative Tube and rail services or local bus routes. Rail replacement buses will run between Cockfosters and Finchley Central, and between Arnos Grove and Finsbury Park.

London Overground

Until Sunday August 4

No service between Hackney Downs and Chingford

Use alternative Tube, rail or local bus services. Rail replacement buses will run every 20 minutes, calling at all stations. This is due to Network Rail bridge replacement works.

Service changes between Liverpool Street and Enfield Town/Cheshunt

Revised services will be operating between Liverpool Street and Enfield Town/Cheshunt. During peak hours on Thursday 1 and Friday August 2, fewer trains will be running to/from Enfield Town and Cheshunt. Services will be re-timed.

Stansted Express services/Seven Sisters one-way system

Until Saturday August 3, Stansted Express services will run via Seven Sisters and will not serve Tottenham Hale. Services to/from Stansted Airport will only run via Tottenham Hale on Sunday August 4.

Seven Sisters is expected to be much busier. For a simpler journey and to avoid queues at Seven Sisters, travel via Liverpool Street for step-free access and to connect between the Tube and Stansted Airport/Cambridge train services. Seven Sisters station does not have step-free access. 

A one-way system will be in operation at Seven Sisters during peak hours and at other busy times when required. Plan ahead, allow extra time for your journey and check before you travel.

Saturday 3 until Thursday August 8

No service between Euston and Watford Junction

Use local and temporary bus services to connect with alternative Tube routes via the Metropolitan and Jubilee lines.

Customers for central London can also use London Northwestern Railway services from Watford Junction, Bushey, Wembley Central or Harrow & Wealdstone. These services will continue to run during the works.

Sunday August 4

No service between Liverpool Street and Enfield Town/Cheshunt until 10.15am

Use alternative Tube services or local bus routes. Rail replacement buses will run between Seven Sisters and Enfield Town/Cheshunt.

No service between Barking and Barking Riverside

Use local bus route EL1 for Barking Riverside.

No service between Camden Road and Stratford after 10.15pm

Use alternative Tube services or local bus routes. For Caledonian Road & Barnsbury, use local bus route 274 to/from Camden Road or walk to/from Highbury & Islington. Rail replacement buses will run.

Monday 5 until Thursday August 8

No service between Hackney Downs and Enfield Town/Cheshunt after 10.45pm each night

On Wednesday 7 August, the last train from Liverpool Street to Cheshunt will be at 10.15pm. Use alternative Tube services or local bus routes. Rail replacement buses will run between Seven Sisters and Enfield Town/Cheshunt. 

No service between Sydenham and West Croydon after 11.30pm each night

Use local bus routes or tram services. The last two trains to West Croydon from Highbury & Islington (11.17pm) and Dalston Junction (11.48pm) will be diverted to Crystal Palace. Tickets will be accepted on Southern Railway services between Crystal Palace, Norwood Junction and West Croydon.

Buses and roads

Brixton

From 10am until 6pm, a march will take place in Brixton, starting at Windrush Square. Large crowds and increased traffic levels are expected.

Trafalgar Square

From 11am until 1pm, and from 2pm until 4pm, an art festival will take place in Trafalgar Square. Large crowds are expected.

Lord's Cricket Ground

From 10.30am until 7pm, Lord's Cricket Ground will host The Hundred cricket tournament. Large crowds and increased traffic levels are expected.

Friday August 2

The Oval

From 2pm until 9pm, The Oval will host The Hundred cricket tournament. Large crowds and increased traffic levels are expected.

Saturday August 3

Central London

From 11am until 6pm, a march will take place through central London. Large crowds, increased traffic levels and delays are expected.

From 11am until 6pm, a march will take place starting and ending at Parliament Square via Whitehall, The Mall and Grosvenor Road. Large crowds and increased traffic levels are expected.

East and south London

From 10am until 6pm, a cycling event will start at Leyton Sports Ground and end at an event in Dulwich Park. Large crowds, increased traffic levels and delays are expected.

Sunday August 4

Lord's Cricket Ground

From 10.30am until 7pm, Lord's Cricket Ground will host The Hundred cricket tournament. Large crowds and increased traffic levels are expected.

Monday 5 until Tuesday August 13

A4 Great West Road

Between 10pm and 5am each night, the A4 Great West Road will be closed overnight between Chiswick Roundabout and the junction with Ealing Road.

Plan ahead and allow more time for your journey. Signed diversion routes will be in place. This is due to urgent National Highways work.

Until Sunday August 18

Lille Road/Old Brompton Road

Until Sunday August 18, Lille Road/Old Brompton Road will be closed in both directions between the junctions of Seagrave Road and Eardley Crescent for Thames Water works.

Until Wednesday August 28

Whitehall

There will be two separate directional closures of Whitehall for works by Westminster City Council.

Work will take place Monday to Friday between 8am and 6pm, and Saturdays between 8am and 1pm, starting on the southbound carriageway from the junction with Trafalgar Square, before moving to northbound from Wednesday August 14, from the junction with Great Scotland Yard. 

While the closures are in place, all traffic including some bus services will be on diversion. Follow the official diversion routes, check before you travel and leave more time for your journey.

 A12 Colchester Road

Until late September, there will be directional lane restrictions on the A12 Colchester Road between the junction with the M25 and the junction with Woodstock Avenue. This is due to essential Thames Water works. For more information, visit the National Highways website.

Customers travelling during this time should allow more time to complete their journey, and check before they travel.

A10 Kingsland High Street

Until October 6, works are taking place on the A10 Kingsland High Street at the junction of Sandringham Road. This is to install new pedestrian and cycling crossing facilities across Kingsland High Street.

There will be lane closures on the A10 Kingsland High Street until Sunday July 28. Traffic will be managed one direction at a time and delays to your journey are likely. Sandringham Road will be closed until Sunday August 31.

Roads in the surrounding areas are also likely to be busier as people use alternative routes. Allow more time for your journey and check before you travel. 

Until mid-October

Grosvenor Road and Lupus Street

Grosvenor Road will be closed eastbound between Royal Hospital Road and Lupus Street for Cadent Gas works. Lupus Street will be closed for the duration of these works.

Delays are expected on all approaches to Grosvenor Road, especially during peak travel hours, with local roads also expected to be busy as people use alternative routes. Bus routes 24 and 360 will be on diversion. Allow more time for your journey and check before you travel.

Rowley Lane Flyover, Barnet

There will be a series of lane closures and overnight directional closures of the A1 Barnet Bypass at the junction with Rowley Lane. This is for critical safety works to the flyover. 

Overnight directional closures will take place between 9pm and 5am only with signed diversion routes for all traffic. The first directional closure will be northbound overnight on Friday July 26. 

Lane closures, reducing the A1 to two lanes from three, will be in place 24/7 and affect one direction at a time, except between Monday September 9 and Wednesday October 10, when there will be a lane out in both directions. Plan ahead and leave more time for your journey.

A40 Westway

Until October 2024, there will be a series of closures affecting the slip roads on and off the A40 at the Westway roundabout and on the A3220 West Cross route. This is due to critical safety works.

The first phase of these works will be until Thursday August 22, when the eastbound off-slip and the southbound A3220 West Cross route from the Westway roundabout will be closed. Drivers will not be able to exit the A40 to join the A3220 West Cross route travelling southbound. The westbound on-slip and A3220 northbound will remain open. 

On the A40, the approach to Wood Lane, diversion routes and local roads are expected to be extremely busy. Customers are urged to plan ahead and use alternative routes where possible. 

Use alternative routes such as the A312 The Parkway or the A406 North Circular for connections with the A4.

For access to Westfield White City, please use local public transport, walk or cycle where possible. 

Until July 2025

A24 Balham High Road/Upper Tooting Road

Until July 2025, there will be a series of lane restrictions and temporary traffic signals in place on A24 Balham High Road/Upper Tooting Road between the junction with Ravenstone Street and the junction with Blackshaw Road. This is due to essential Thames Water works.

Customers travelling through the area should allow more time for their journey, consider alternative routes and check before they travel. If travelling locally, consider walking or cycling where possible.
