TfL weekend closures September 6 to 8: Underground, Elizabeth line and Overground disruption

Londoners travelling into the capital this weekend could be faced with disruption due to closures on Tube and rail services.
Transport for London (TfL) has asked Londoners to check before they travel.

London Underground
District line
Saturday 7 and Sunday September 8
No service between Turnham Green and Richmond
Use local or rail replacement bus services. This is due to Network Rail track work.
Northern line
Saturday 7 and Sunday September 8
No service between Golders Green and Edgware
Southbound services from Golders Green are not affected and are expected to continue as normal.
A Rail replacement bus NL1 will be running between Golders Green and Canons Park (for the Jubilee line) stations during the closure. It will stop at Golders Green Road (for Brent Cross), Hendon Central, Colindale, Burnt Oak and Edgware stations.

Hide AdFor journeys to central London, it may be quickest to take local bus services to Jubilee line or Thameslink stations.
There will be no service at Colindale station until late December. This is part of works to support the Colindale station upgrade.
London Overground
Saturday 7 and Sunday September 8
No service between Gospel Oak and Richmond/Shepherd's Bush
Use alternative Tube services or local bus routes. Rail replacement buses will run between Camden Road and Willesden Junction, and between Richmond and Willesden Junction. This is due to Network Rail track work.

Use alternative Tube and rail services or local bus routes. Rail replacement buses will run between Canada Water and Clapham Junction. This is due to work on the Network Rail Victoria Resignalling project.
Sunday September 8
No service between Hackney Downs and Chingford
Use alternative Tube services and local bus routes. Rail replacement buses will run. This is due to Network Rail bridge replacement work.
Monday 9 until Thursday September 12
No service between Highbury & Islington and Clapham Junction, New Cross and New Cross Gate after 9.15pm each day
Use alternative Tube services or local bus routes. For Dalston Kingsland, use local bus route 30 from Highbury & Islington. For Shadwell and Wapping, use local bus route D3 from Whitechapel. For Rotherhithe, use local bus routes C10 or 381 from Canada Water or Bermondsey. Rail replacement buses will run between Dalston Kingsland and New Cross Gate via Tower Gateway, and between Canada Water and Clapham Junction
Elizabeth line
Use alternative Tube services or local bus routes to complete your journey around the following closures. Heathrow Express and Great Western Railway services will also not run until 7.45am on Sunday.
This is due to HS2 works at Old Oak Common.

DLR services will still be operating between Stratford International and Woolwich Arsenal, and between Canning Town and Beckton, but with a modified service.
Use alternative Tube services or local bus routes. Rail replacement buses will run between Tower Gateway and Canning Town, between Westferry and Island Gardens, and between Canada Water and Lewisham. Tickets will also be accepted on Southeastern services at Greenwich, Cannon Street, Deptford Bridge and Charing Cross.
TFL says this is due to essential work for the new DLR trains.
London trams
Friday 6 until Sunday September 8
No service between Wimbledon and Mitcham Junction from 11.50pm on Friday and all day on Saturday and Sunday
Trams will run between Mitcham Junction and Beckenham Junction/Elmers End, and between West Croydon and New Addington. Tram replacement buses will run between Wimbledon and Mitcham Junction. This is due to planned maintenance works.

From 10am, a march will take place from St Thomas's Hospital to Downing Street. Large crowds are expected.

From 6.30pm until 10.30pm, the O2 Arena will host Karan Aujla in concert. Large crowds and increased traffic levels are expected.
Primrose Hill
From 5pm until 9pm, a demonstration will take place on Avenue Road. Large crowds are expected.
Friday 6 until Tuesday September 10

From 10.30am until 6pm each day, The Oval will host the cricket test match between England and Sri Lanka. Large crowds and increased traffic levels are expected.
Friday 6 until Monday September 9
Blackwall Tunnel
From 0.01am on Saturday 7 (midnight Friday) until 5am on Monday September 9, Blackwall Tunnel will be closed to southbound traffic.
This is while works continue to complete the new road layout, as part of the Silvertown Tunnel construction. The tunnel will remain open to northbound traffic during these times.
TfL expects roads and alternative river crossings in east and central London to be extremely busy with long delays to journeys. Queues along the A13 westbound between Canning Town and Whitechapel and on the approaches to Rotherhithe Tunnel are expected throughout the weekend.

Hide AdFrom 10am on Friday 6 until midnight on Sunday September 8, bus route 108 will not cross the river, starting/terminating at Canning Town and North Greenwich.
Bus 108 customers should use Tube and rail services to cross the river. Auto refunds will be in place for bus 108 customers who touch in and out on the Jubilee line between North Greenwich and Canning Town.
From approximately midnight on Sunday, northbound buses will return to their normal route. Southbound buses will be diverted via Tower Bridge until the tunnel is reopened to southbound traffic on Monday.

From 12am until 6pm, a cultural event will take place at Trafalgar Square. Large crowds are expected.

From 12pm until 9pm, a cultural event will take place at Tir Chonaill Gaels GAA Grounds in Greenford. Large crowds are expected.
Until Tuesday September 10
Brixton
Until Tuesday September 10, there will be a series of bus lane closures on the A23 Brixton Road at the junction with Atlantic Road. This is to install new pedestrian and cycling crossing facilities.
You will still be able to use Brixton Road in both directions, but there will be some changes to the road layout. Allow more time for your journey and check before you travel. If travelling locally, consider walking or cycling where possible.

Hide AdA40 Westway
The A3220 West Cross Route from Holland Park roundabout to the Westway roundabout will be closed to northbound traffic. This is due to planned critical safety and maintenance works.
The northbound on-slip from the A3220 West Cross Route to the A40 Westway and westbound off-slip from Westway roundabout to Wood Lane will also be closed. There will be no access to the A40 from the A3220 West Cross Route. The eastbound on and off-slip road and the A3220 southbound slips will remain open.
Signed diversion routes will be in place but local roads are expected to be extremely busy. Long delays to join the A40 Westway are likely. Use alternative routes such as A312 The Parkway or the A406 North Circular for connections with the A4.

Farringdon Road will be closed southbound between Ray Street Bridge and Charterhouse Street. This is due to essential Cadent Gas works.
