London Underground passengers were experiencing severe delays on Sunday morning.

No service was operating on part of the Central line on Sunday morning, with severe delays impacting the rest of the line.

Transport for London (TfL) put the problems down to a faulty train at Hainault and a “shortage of control staff”.

The service issues come on top of planned works on the Piccadilly and District lines, as well as London Overground.

Central line severe delays

At shortly after 8am there was no service between Ealing Broadway and Hainault / Woodford via Newbury Park while TfL engineers fixed a faulty train at Hainault.

Service had resumed by 10am but severe delays were reported on the whole line due to a shortage of control staff.

TfL said tickets will be accepted on Greater Anglia, Great Western Railway, Chiltern Railway, London Overground, Elizabeth line and London Bus services.
