TfL have announced this week that there will be ongoing works on one of the escalators at the Blackhorse Road underground station in Walthamstow until the summer.
The planned maintenance works which started today (January 9) will focus on the escalator down to the Victoria line platforms.

While the escalator down will be closed during this period there will be access to the Victoria line platforms via the station’s fixed staircase.
The escalator up to the ticket hall from the Victoria line platforms will still be working throughout the planned maintenance works.
Walthamstow MP Stella Creasy shared the news in a video across her social media pages on Wednesday (January 8).

The Blackhorse Road station’s TfL page warns the closure could last slightly longer until July.
A statement on the site reads: “From Wednesday 8 January until July 202[5], there will be no down escalator service to the Victoria line due to planned maintenance works. Please use the fixed staircase to access the platforms.”
