London Marathon TfL travel update - Metropolitan line severe delays and other disruption

Hundreds of thousands of people will be in central London on Sunday for the marathon, XR’s The Big One and St George’s Day.

With 45,000 people taking part in the London Marathon today, and tens of thousands of people watching, anyone travelling will need to plan ahead on Sunday, April 23.

In addition, tens of thousands of people will be around Westminster for the Extinction Rebellion The Big One protests, and there will be a St George’s Day celebration in Trafalgar Square.

Westminster Tube station is expected to be especially busy.

Here is what’s happening on the Tubes and rail network as at 3.45pm.

Piccadilly line

With planned works, there is no service between Acton Town and Uxbridge. A rail replacement bus service will run.

District line

Minor dealys. No service between Earl’s Court and Kensington (Olympia) due to signal failure at Earl’s Court.

Metropolitan line

Good service now after earier severe delays between Harrow on the Hill and Amersham / Chesham due to an earlier signal failure at Rickmansworth.

Jubilee line

Minor delays due to train cancellations.

Docklands Light Railway - DLR

Minor delays between Lewisham and Bank / Tower Gateway due to an earlier customer incident at Cutty Sark. Good service on all other DLR routes.

Waterloo & City

Does not run on Sundays

All other TfL lines

Good service.

Govia Thameslink

Network Rail and Govia Thameslink Railway have warned customers of changes to timetables affecting trains in Sussex, Surrey, south and central London.

Buses will replace trains between Streatham Hill and Crystal Palace/West Croydon on both days, with no Thameslink trains connecting London Bridge and St Pancras International or Finsbury Park over the weekend.

Thameslink services from Brighton, Horsham and Rainham will run to amended timetables, terminating at London Bridge, while trains from Bedford and Luton will end at St Pancras, and those from Peterborough and Cambridge will be diverted to King’s Cross.
