It has since built a big fanbase locally, with queues often spilling out onto the streets.

Taco Queen will shut its doors for the final time on 15 September – but the Southwark business said “exciting times” lay ahead.

In a post to its near-10,000 followers, the south London restaurant said: “After seven glorious years, we have decided to close Taco Queen.

“We've had such a great time slingin' tacos and shakin' margs for you all on Rye Lane but it is now time for a new chapter.

“We'll be operating until September 15th so there's still plenty of time to get your fill in before we shut.

“We're looking forward to seeing all your faces one (or many) last time(s)!

“It's been so much fun and we hope this last month will continue to be so.

“Thank you all for making these years some of the best of our lives and here's to the next month and beyond!

“Exciting times ahead.”
