Met Commissioner, Dame Cressida Dick, confirmed to the London assembly on Tuesday morning that officers from the Met have begun a criminal investigation into alleged breaches of Covid-19 laws in Downing Street and Whitehall.

A number of alleged parties and social gatherings are now being investigated by the Metropolitan police, Commissioner Dame Cressida Dick has announced.

The Met’s decision to launch an investigation comes after it declined to do so for the last three or four weeks.

The Met investigation arrives just as senior civil servant, Sue Gray, is about to publish her investigation into the alleged parties held in Downing Street during the pandemic.
