Sam Smith has certainly raised a few eyebrows over their “demonic” Grammy Awards performance.
The award-winning singer, 30 from London - who goes by gender neutral pronouns they/them - has caused outrage over their satanic themed performance.

Hide AdSam performed a racy version of their hit Unholy alongside German singer Kim Petras.
The songwriter was seen wearing a red latex outfit and top hat with devil horns. Backing dancers performed a routine in front of fire as they held whips, while Kim wore matching red latex and stood in a cage.


The duo won Best Pop Group for the song Unholy and Kim made history by being the first transgender woman to receive the award. But the award has been overshadowed by the controversy and backlash they have received over the performance.
Many viewers watched in horror and described the performance as “a tribute to Satan.”

It is not clear what religion Sam personally follows if any at all. They made some references in the 2017 song Pray, as they sang: “I block out the news, turn my back on religion.” and adds “You won’t find me in church (no) reading the Bible (no).”
According to the BBC, the singer attended St Mary’s Catholic School in Bishop’s Stortford and was a member of the Cantate Youth Choir.
What have Conservatives in the U.S said?
Politicians and congresswomen were quick to comment on social media after watching the performance. Texas republican Ted CruzTweeted: “This …is… evil”.
Georgia republican Majorie Taylor Greene wrote: “The Grammy’s featured Sam Smith’s demonic performance and was sponsored by Pfizer.

Were the Satanist’s happy?
The Church of Satan wasn’t impressed by the Grammy performance either.
Speaking to TMZ, magister for the Church of Satan David Harris said: “Sam and Kim’s performance was"alright " and "nothing particularly special."
Neither Sam Smith nor Kim Petras have responded to any of the backlash.
