Taking to his Twitter account, Roman shared a photo of a rare Creme Egg that he had never seen before.

The Creme Egg appeared to be made of one half milk chocolate and the other half white chocolate.

Roman told his 322,400 followers: “What is this??? HALF WHITE HALF MILK CHOCOLATE??”

But after eating the Cadbury treat, the radio and television presenter realised that it was part of a promotion that could have won him £10,000.

Speaking on his Capital Breakfast show on Monday (20 March), Roman said: “I was enjoying my Sunday very much. I was watching the last episode of The Last of Us and I thought to myself, ‘I’m going to treat myself. Why not? I’m going to have a Creme Egg.’”

Roman also shared that he had initially thought, when seeing the hybrid egg, that “someone’s made a mistake here”.

Speaking to producers Chris Stark and Sian Welby, Roman said: “I’ve never seen one of them before,” and then added: “I was aware obviously that they’ve got the white chocolate ones, they’ve obviously got the normal milk chocolate ones, so I’m thinking ‘this is just a mistake’”.

The hybrid Creme eggs are part of a competition that saw Cadbury create 146 half white chocolate and half milk chocolate Creme Eggs as part of an Easter egg hunt.

Six of the hybrid eggs are worth £10,000, with another three bagging the finder £5,000.

To claim the prize, whoever discovers the egg must take a picture with the uneaten Egg to prove that they found it.

However, Roman realised he had made a costly error after he ate the Creme Egg before posting the photo to his Twitter account.

His followers were then quick to tell the radio DJ that he was in the running to potentially take the prize money.

Roman posted his panic, saying: “I HAVE ALREADY EATEN IT AND PEOPLE ARE SAYING ITS WORTH 10K!?”

He then continued with further tweets that said: “I HAVE EATEN IT. WHAT DO I DO NOW? HELPPPPPPPPP” before adding: “PEOPLE ARE SAYING IT’S A PRANK OR THAT I’VE TIPPEXED IT. I F****** WISH”.

The radio presenter denied the theory that he was pranking his followers after being hounded with the claims on his Twitter account.

However, Roman isn’t the only one to consume the rare Creme Egg, with another unlucky person claiming to have done the same thing last week.
