Seann Walsh has revealed that he had “the worst month of his life” following his BBC Strictly Come Dancing kissing scandal.

The comedian, 36, from London, explained to fellow I’m A Celeb campmate Babatunde Aleshe on Wednesday night’s episode how attendance at his shows reduced significantly after photos captured the moment that he kissed Katya Jones. At the time, the professional dancer was married to husband Neil and Seann was dating Rebecca Humphries.

He said the media frenzy that followed the kissing scandal was followed by just 30 people attending his show in Edinburgh at a venue which holds 200 people and he had been expecting to sell out.

Speaking to Babatunde, Sean said: “It’s the classic you don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone, that cliche. I was doing well and I didn’t realise.”

He continued: “Easily the most depressing month of my entire life, Edinburgh after Strictly.

“We get to Edinburgh, right, I think it’s a 200-seater, I’ve never not I think in Edinburgh sold out the first night.

“So it doesn’t even occur to me that it’s not sold out. Just before I’m about to go on, my agent comes in and just goes, ‘’Just so you know, there’s like 30 people.’’

“To get told that when you’re just about to go on… horrific. It was at that point I was like, ‘’Oh, oh..””

Babatunde added: “Oh, they don’t like me.”

“My career was dead, I was over,” Seann responded.

Babatunde spoke candidly in the Bush Telegraph about how comedians enjoy making jokes but can struggle to talk about their “hardest” times.

Seann said: “My agent said, ‘’There’s nothing I can do. I’m sorry, I’ve tried. I’ve tried everything.”

“Do you know what I did, I thought, I’ve got to learn to drive. I can’t sit on trains, with people looking at me going, ‘’Is that the guy that used to…?’’

“I’ve got to learn to drive now as I’ve got to hide. Genuinely. I mean that, I swear on my life. I was like,”I can’t be on trains.”

Babatunde explained that he had challenges in his own career as a comic and briefly stopped working because he was struggling to make new content.

“There are the highs in comedy but there are the lows. It’s not been an easy ride for either of us,” Seann told the Bush Telegraph.

The conversation came a few episodes after Seann described his Strictly kissing scandal as “the worst moment of his life” while talking to Sue Cleaver.

The comedian was spotted kissing Katya outside of a pub, while he was taking part in the 2018 series of the BBC show. The pair continued to compete despite the controversy but were eliminated in week five.

Seann’s girlfriend at the time Rebecca addressed the scandal in a lengthy post on Twitter, claiming that Seann had called her “psycho” for questioning his friendship with Katya in the weeks leading up to the kiss.

Rebecca and Seann soon broke up, while Neil supported wife Katya after the “drunken mistake” until they announced their split in 2019.
