Paul Millachip: Willesden man, 57, killed by 14 ft-long great white shark in Australia


A search for a man from London presumed dead following a great white shark attack in Western Australia has been called off.

Hide AdThe 57-year-old, who is originally from the Willesden, Brent, was also reportedly attacked by a tiger shark at the same time.
Mr Millachip and his wife relocated to Australia from the capital.
Horrified beachgoers fled to the rocks after being alerted by a group of teenagers at the time of the incident.

Hide AdHis wife spoke at a press conference and could not hide her sheer sadness at the passing of her “wonderful” husband.
“He was a wonderful man, a wonderful father, and he loved his exercise,” Mrs Millachip said.
“It came out of the blue but it did happen, we just have to deal with it.”
She explained how Mr Millachip was an avid swimmer who had competed in six Ironman triathlons.
“Rest in peace, Paul” she said.

Hide AdHis wife also praised the efforts of the group of teenage boys who helped explain to her what had happened to her husband.
The group admitted they witnessed the horrific attack by a shark that was “mammoth” in size.
Politicians and the police have come out to publicly praise their efforts which could have saved many lives.
West Australian Premier Mark McGowan described the tragedy as “very sad” and “horrific”.
“A family is now grieving, a man has lost his life.
“It’s a sad situation for everyone involved”.
There have been three fatal shark attacks across Australia this year so far.
