A man has been rushed to hospital after being hit by a bus in central London.

The Met Police were called at approximately 1.40pm on Monday, April 22, to reports of a bus in collision with a pedestrian in Oxford Street.

Officers and London Ambulance Service attended and the pedestrian, a man believed aged in his 50s, was taken to hospital for treatment where his condition awaits.

Police say road closures remain in place and enquiries into the circumstances continue.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 1.41pm this afternoon (April 22) to reports of a road traffic collision involving a pedestrian and a bus on Oxford Street, W1C. We sent resources to the scene, including an ambulance crew.

“Our first paramedic was on the scene in two minutes. We treated a patient at the scene and took them to a major trauma centre.”
