Hide AdLondon Fire Brigade says a two-storey end-of-terraced house in Forest Road, in Walthamstow, was destroyed by the fire.
The brigade said in a statement: “Two people who were discovered inside the property by firefighters were sadly pronounced dead at the scene by London Ambulance Service crews.”
Police say the identities of the victims are not yet confirmed and that the fire’s cause is under investigation.
Half of the roof was damaged by the fire, about which the 999 control office received nine calls.

Hide AdThe brigade was called at 10.25pm and the fire was brought under control by 12.22am.
Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters from Walthamstow, Woodford, Leyton and Tottenham fire stations attended.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the brigade and the Metropolitan Police.

Hide AdA Met Police spokesperson said: “An investigation is ongoing after a fatal fire in Walthamstow. Police were called at 10.24pm on Sunday April 21 to a report of a fire at a house on Forest Road, E17. Officers attended alongside colleagues from the London Fire Brigade.
“Sadly, two people were found deceased inside the property. Work is under way to confirm their identities. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.”
