M25 crash: Dartford Tunnel closed for nearly an hour causing long rush hour traffic queues

The Dartford Tunnel was closed for almost an hour this morning following a collision on the M25.

Commuters on the M25 motorway were stuck in long traffic queues during rush hour due to a collision near the Dartford Tunnel.

The crash occurred between junction 1 for Dartford and junction 31 for Lakeside/Purfleet at just after 7am on Thursday (March 21).

All lanes have since reopened following an hour closure of both tunnels this morning, with traffic remaining.

National Highways posted on X, at 7.42am saying: "Traffic is currently stopped on the #A282 northbound #DartfordCrossing due to a collision. Delays are building, please allow extra journey time. "

It posted an update at 7.59am saying that traffic had been released and that all lanes are now running again.
