The researchers said: “Given the rapid translation of thunderstorms, any tornado could be long-tracked and even a strong event cannot be ruled out. The main tornado risk seems to evolve along and [south] of a Bristol-London line.”

A red weather warning is very rare and indicates a ‘danger to life’ caused by ‘very dangerous’ weather conditions. Winds could reach speeds of 90mph in those areas tomorrow.

Londoners can expect winds of up to 50mph, which may cause some disruption to transport services in the capital.

The weather forecast predicts heavy rain in London tomorrow (Friday), especially in the morning. The peak of the bad weather will hit between 4am and 9am.
During that period wind speeds of between 45-50mph are expected. But the weather will settle throughout the day.
BBC Weather says: “Friday will be a milder day but windy with strong gusts. Cloudy and wet to start but any lingering rain soon clearing away to the east. Turning clear with winds easing a little by evening.”
