Kayon Williams: Body found in River Thames after search for missing 24-year old woman, last seen on night out

The body of a woman believed to be missing Kayon Williams has been pulled from the River Thames.

Ms Williams, 24, from Newham, east London, was last seen in central London on Saturday July 2.

She had been out with her friends in Market Place, close to Oxford Circus celebrating Pride weekend.

Police launched a desperate search for her and released an image of Ms Williams in the pink dress and white heels she was wearing when she was last seen.

The Met Police have said they recovered a body from the River Thames on Tuesday evening.

Ms Williams’ family have been informed.

In a statement, Westminster Police said: “We’ve been appealing for help to find 24-year-old Kayon Williams.

“Sadly, last night a body was recovered from the water between Waterloo and Blackfriars Bridges.

“Formal ID awaits, but Kayon’s family have been informed.

“The death is not being treated as suspicious.”

Her close friends paid tribute to her and thanked all those who joined the search.

In a statement posted to Twitter, they said: “It is with heavy hearts that we inform you all that Kayon has passed away.

“No words can describe how we feel.

“We would like to thank everyone for their help in trying to locate her.

“We want Kayon to know that we will always love her and she will be greatly missed.”
