Cyclist killed in hit and run in Croydon with police appealing for witnesses

A cyclist has been killed following a hit and run collision with a car in Croydon, south London.

Police and paramedics rushed to the BP garage in Mitcham Road just after 3.11am this morning (Monday, May 30), following reports of a car in collision with a cyclist.

The cyclist was given first aid, but died a short time later.

Officers are currently trying to contact his next of kin, and he has not yet been identified publicly.

The car failed to stop at the scene.

Now detectives are appealing for anyone with dashcam footage or who witnessed the crash to come forward.

Roads and transport police are investigating and urgent enquiries are underway to identify the car and its driver.
