Man murdered in shooting on busy Wood Green High Road

A man has been shot to death on a busy north London high street on Sunday night.

After receiving first aid he was pronounced dead at the scene at 10pm.

A cordon closing the road between White Hart Lane and Lordship Lane was put in place by police, as officers investigated the crime scene outside Haringey Council’s offices.

Police have launched a murder investigation but no arrests have yet been made.

The victim’s family are aware of his death and are being supported by specialist officers. A post-mortem examination will now be held.

Detective Chief Inspector Perry Benton said: “This is a tragic incident in which a young man has lost his life.

“I would urge anyone who was in the High Road area at the time, or who has any information about this incident to contact police immediately.

“In particular, I am appealing to anyone who has any mobile phone footage or CCTV, which they think may be helpful to the investigation , to come forward.”

The Wood Green shooting came amid a wave of crime in London over the weekend including a shooting in Walthamstow, and two stabbings in Ealing and Hornchurch.
