Mayfair attack: Man, in his 70s, in hospital fighting for his life after assault near Connaught Hotel

A man, in his 70s, has been left in hospital in a critical condition after a violent assault near a hotel in Mayfair.

The Met Police was called at around 2am on Wednesday, May 18 to reports of an assault in Adams Row, Westminster.

Officers and paramedics found two men suffering injuries, near the famous Connaught Hotel.

They were both taken to hospital for treatment, where the older man remains.

A second man, aged in his 40s, is not in a life-threatening condition.

One man has been arrested on suspicion of assault and remains in custody.

Enquiries into the circumstances continue.
