Islington: Cyclist dies after Clerkenwell collision with refuse lorry

A 33-year-old woman died after a collision in Clerkenwell Road, near Farringdon, Islington.

A cyclist died after a collision with a lorry on Tuesday evening (March 19).

Police are appealing for witnesses and any road users with dashcam footage of the incident in Clerkenwell.

Emergency services were called at 8.18pm to reports of a collision involving a lorry and a cyclist on Clerkenwell Road, near the junction with Farringdon Road. Officers attended along with paramedics from London Ambulance Service. A 33-year-old woman was found seriously injured and died at the scene, despite treatment by emergency services.

Police say her next of kin has been informed.

The lorry, believed to be a refuse vehicle, stopped at the scene. The driver has not been arrested and is helping police with their enquiries.

Road closures were put in place and lifted at shortly after 5am on Wednesday.
