Harold Hill baby death: Man and woman charged with ‘concealing the birth of a child’ in Havering

A man and woman have been charged with “concealing the birth of a child” after a baby was found dead at a house in east London.
Officers were called at around 7.40pm on Tuesday (August 22) to an address in Mimosa Close, Harold Hill.

Hide AdConcerns about the welfare of a baby had been reported to them, a Met Police spokesperson said.
Upon their arrival, officers found the body of a newborn baby girl at the scene.
Ahmed Mahad, 35, of no fixed address, and Dawn-Marie Huxtable, 36, of Mimosa Close, Harold Hill, are due to appear before Barking Magistrates’ Court today.
Both have been charged under Section 60 of the Offences Against the Person Act, Concealing the Birth of a Child.

Hide AdDet Sup Lewis Basford, from the Met’s Public Protection team covering Havering, previously said: “This is a tragic incident and we understand it will be hugely upsetting for local people.
“At this time, the baby’s death is being treated as unexplained and a post-mortem examination will take place at the earliest opportunity to help us determine what may have happened and to confirm how long the baby’s body had been there.”
