Police have issue a description of a man they want to find in connection with a fatal stabbing on Saturday (April 15).

Filipe Oliveira, 20, died after suffering a stab wound in the Tulse Hill area.

The Met Police and London Ambulance Service were called at around 5.55pm to reports of a stabbing in Norwood Road, Lambeth. They found the victim in the communal area of flats above shops and despite the efforts of paramedics he died at the scene.

Police say they believe he had been stabbed at the doorway between the street and steps leading up to this communal area.

Detectives are looking for a man decribed as Black, of short build, and wearing a blue hooded top and a blue Covid mask - and who they say fled the scene along Christchurch Road

There have been no arrests and a post-mortem examination is still to be held.

A homicide investigation has been launched, led by Detective Chief Inspector Kate Blackburn, of Specialist Crime, who said: “Our investigation is making significant progress, but I am continuing to appeal for any witnesses or anyone with information to come forward. I also want to hear from anyone who may have footage that will assist the investigation.

“We are also keen to speak to a man described as black, of short build, who was wearing a blue hooded top and a blue Covid mask. He ran away from the scene along Christchurch Road. I particularly want to hear from anyone who may have seen this man, or who has footage of him. Of course, he may have discarded the mask shortly after the incident.”

Filipe’s family has launched a Gofundme page to raise money for his funeral.

They wrote: “Our son and brother, Filipe, was tragically taken from us by senseless knife crime with no provocation on the April 15 2023 at only age 20.

“He was a very much loved member of our family and his loss will be felt strongly forever.

“His friends are forever going to miss his company, jokes, laugh and smile.

“Filipe was one of the funniest people you could come across, and always put his friends and family first. He would be willing to give his last pound away to someone else who needed it and shared everything he had. Filipe was a very spiritual person and was using this to find himself and to become the good strong young man we knew he would grow to be.

“No one plans for someone to die at 20 years old. Especially not for them to be taken so violently and suddenly. We hope that you are able to donate or share this link to help us be able to give him a funeral and send off fitting of the good person he was.

“Rest in Peace Filipe - we love you forever.”
