Police have named him as 39-year-old Preda Eugene, and the force says officers are continuing to make enquiries to trace his next of kin.

A post-mortem examination held at Poplar Mortuary gave the cause of death as a head injury.

“We know that he was living in a hut in the woodland but what happened to cause his death? Did you see him, or anyone else in the area between Saturday, February 11 and the day he was found?

“Any piece of information could be vital in establishing exactly what happened.”
