CCTV is being reviewed after an allegation that an Arsenal fan was threatened in an antisemitic incident at a north London pub.

Katie Price, 26, a Jewish Arsenal supporter from east London, was at The Cally, in Islington, with friends on January 15, the day of the north London derby against Tottenham Hotspur.

Ms Price, a comedian, said she asked fellow fans not to use the ‘Y-word’ antisemitic slur, when one threatened to attack her and called her a “dirty f***ing y***”. She said she was then thrown out of the pub.

Police launched an investigation and a Met spokesperson said last week: “Officers have spoken with the woman and remain in contact with her.

“Detectives from the Central North Command Unit are leading the investigation and are carrying out a number of enquiries, including reviewing CCTV footage.”

Ms Price told LondonWorld she has not heard anything since the investigation was launched.

The Y-word slur comes from the word ‘Yiddish’, a Jewish language, and is often associated with racist abuse of Tottenham fans.

The comedian and writer, who was watching the game in her Arsenal shirt, said she intervened when fellow fans began using the slur in their chants.

She said: “This guy then called me a ‘dirty fucking Y**’. My friend was holding them back as he was saying: ‘I’m going to f***ing beat you up, beat you both up’ and all the time kept saying ‘you dirty Y**.’”

She added: “Then someone who worked at the pub came up to me and Jamie and said: ‘Can you leave?’

“I asked ‘did you not hear what he said - what he called me?’ and they just told us it was time to go. I knew what was going to happen.

“We picked up our stuff to go and heard people shouting ‘off you go Y**’ and chanting it as we left the pub.

“We got outside and I just burst into tears - I’m not a confrontational person.”

An Arsenal spokesperson said: “Arsenal must be a safe and welcoming environment for everyone, and we want to be clear that any kind of discriminatory abuse is not welcome at our club.”

The Cally pub told LondonWorld it was “shocked” by the incident but could not comment further while the police investigate.

Arsenal fans are urged to report any form of discriminatory behaviour to the police or can text “FOUL” to 67777 with a description of the incident and the location within the stadium as part of the ‘See Something, Say Something’ service.
