Another serving officer, PC Gary Thomson, 30, who was driving a separate vehicle, has been charged with dangerous driving.

Both officers, who work in the central south command unit, were responding to an emergency incident at the time. They have since been placed on restricted duties.

They will appear at Westminster Magistrates Court next week, on Monday, October 17, charged by postal requisition with the offences, which are contrary to the Road Traffic Act.

It follows an investigation by the force watchdog, the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) into the collision.

A IOPC spokesperson said: “Our sympathies remain with Ms Daniel-Folkes’ family and loved ones.

“Our investigation concluded in May 2022, when we provided a file of evidence to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) which authorised the charges.”

A Met spokesperson said: “A collision occurred as two separate police cars responded to an emergency call. As they did so one of them struck a female pedestrian.

“The thoughts and sincerest condolences of the Met remain with her family and friends.

“The IOPC undertook an independent investigation, which the Met fully supported, to establish the cause of the collision. Subsequently the IOPC referred the matter to the CPS.

“Both officers are currently on restricted duties.”
