Ali Abucar Ali: Met Police search for key witnesses to fatal stabbing in Brentford

Police are hunting for two key eyewitnesses to the fatal stabbing of a heroic man - who saved an elderly woman’s life - in Brentford.

Detectives investigating the killing of Ali Abucar Ali are searching for two men described as significant witnesses.

Police were called on the evening of Friday, November 12, 2021, to Albany Road in Brentford where they found Ali and an elderly woman suffering from stab injuries.

Ali, 20, was pronounced dead at the scene. The 82-year-old woman, Betty Walsh, was taken to hospital and has since been discharged with non life-threatening injuries.

A 37-year-old man was charged on Sunday, November 14 with Abucar Ali’s murder and the attempted murder of the woman.

Officers have now released CCTV of two men who may have witnessed the attacks.

The first man is described as white, with ginger hair and black glasses, and was wearing a long grey coat, shorts and trainers.

He was walking along Wilkes Road towards Albany Road before the incident, and carrying what looks like a takeaway bag.

While the second man was walking up Albany Road toward Brook Road South just prior to the incident, and is described as white, with light hair, thick framed glasses and a rucksack.

DCI Brian Howie, from the Met Police, said: “We are really keen to speak to the men in the CCTV images as we believe they are significant witnesses in the murder of Ali Abucar Ali and the attempted murder of an 82-year-old woman.

“Please be assured, you are not in any trouble but may be able to assist with the investigation.

“If you are one of the people in the CCTV or if you know who they are, please contact us as a matter of urgency.”
